Bowling
Green, Ky. - Two Bowling Green students won top honors last weekend at the Junior High School National Speech and Debate Tournament hosted at Western Kentucky University.
The national tournament, sponsored by International Debate Education Association and the National Forensics League, included several hundred competitors from across the United States.
The top Kentucky competitor was Taylor Boswell, an eighth-grader at Bowling Green Christian Academy. Boswell, the daughter of Mike and Jana Boswell, was the national champion in prose interpretation and third place in poetry interpretation.
Amelia Gramling, an eighth-grade home-schooled student and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gramling, was national champ in public speaking and a semifinalist in poetry.
The national sweepstakes winner was Sydney Lanier Middle School of Houston with second place going to St. Mary’s Hall of San Antonio.
