Green, Ky. - Eighteen Western Kentucky University students are competing to become the 2009 Homecoming queen.
The winner will be crowned during halftime of the Nov. 7 Homecoming game against Troy University. The game will begin at 4 p.m. at Houchens Industries-L.T. Smith Stadium.
The theme for this year’s Homecoming is “Roll Out the Red.”
This year’s queen candidates include:
Nicole Aho, a broadcast advertising major from Cincinnati. She is the daughter of Angie Aho and Rob Aho and is sponsored by College Republicans.
Danielle Averill, a corporate and organizational communication major from Paducah. She is the daughter of Kurt and Staci Averill and is sponsored by Alpha Delta Pi, Phi Gamma Delta and Alpha Gamma Rho.
Stacy Jo Carroll, an agriculture education major from Nabb, Ind. She is the daughter of Bruce and Debby Carroll and is sponsored by Block and Bridle.
Kayla Clausen, a public health major from Healdsburg, Calif. She is the daughter of Mark Clausen and Pattie Eddinger and is sponsored by Omega Phi Alpha, Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Phi Delta Theta.
Rae Daniel, a broadcast news and Spanish major from Cincinnati. She is the daughter of Jeffrey Daniel, Evelyn Jones and Renee Daniel and is sponsored by Residence Hall Association.
Carrie Darnell, an agriculture education major from Piner. She is the daughter of Arthur and Becky Darnell and is sponsored by Collegiate FFA.
Nicole “Nikki” Deese, an English literature major from Franklin, Tenn. She is the daughter of Tim and Suzette Deese and is sponsored by WKU Honors College.
Farhat Hamidullah, a political science and international affairs major from Nashville, Tenn. Hamidullah, who died in a traffic accident on Oct. 7, is the daughter of Abdullah and Hanifa Hamidullah and is sponsored by the International Club and Office of International Programs.
Lindsey Houchin, an English and allied language arts major from Bowling Green. She is the daughter of Allen and Martha Houchin and is sponsored by Kappa Delta and Pi Kappa Alpha.
Kari Johnson, a corporate and organizational communication major from Jeffersonville, Ind. She is the daughter of Ken and Jean Johnson and is sponsored by Phi Mu and Sigma Chi.
Rahwa Mehari, a psychology major from Nashville, Tenn. She is the daughter of Tsegaye Arku and Zaid Tewolde and is sponsored by National Pan-Hellenic Council.
Angela Noelle Oliver, a news/editorial journalism major from Atlanta. She is the daughter of Willie and Sheila Oliver and is sponsored by WKU’s chapter of Society of Professional Journalists.
Jessica Paulsen, a corporate and organizational communication major from Owensboro. She is the daughter of
Jay and Kim Paulsen and is sponsored by Baptist Campus Ministries.
Sara Puckett, a public relations and political science major from Winchester. She is the daughter of Claudia Puckett and is sponsored by Spirit Masters.
Beth Power, a communication disorders major from Elkton. She is the daughter of Jeff and Sandy Power and is sponsored by Alpha Omicron Pi.
Rachel Denise Reetzke, a communication disorders major from Franklin. She is the daughter of Dan and Denise Reetzke and is sponsored by Chi Omega and Kappa Alpha Order.
Lindsey Sisk, an exercise science major from Dawson Springs. She is the daughter of Tom and Elizabeth Sisk and is sponsored by Alpha Gamma Delta, Delta Tau Delta and Sigma Phi Epsilon.
Kelli Woodward, a political science major from Auburn. She is the daughter of R.V. and Debbie Woodward and is sponsored by Sigma Kappa.
