Bio
Mr. Gilbert was born, raise and currently lives in northern Warren County. After graduating from high school in the late 1970’s, he was employed in various construction-type roles. He began his nursing career as a non-traditional student the early 1990’s.
He then graduated from Western Kentucky University with an Associate Degree in Nursing in 1996, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing in 2002, a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education 2010.
He began his teaching career in 2009 as a mental health clinical instructor at Western Kentucky University through the Baccalaureate Program in Nursing. In 2012, he came to Western Kentucky University to teach in the Baccalaureate in Nursing Program. He is currently teaching the Nursing 102 Introduction to Professional Nursing and Nursing 334 Fundamental of Clinical Nursing. At the present time, Mr. Gilbert is considering pursuing his Doctorate in Nursing Science at Western Kentucky University.
Prior to teaching, Mr. Gilbert was employed as a nurse in Home Health and Long Term Acute Care. He continues to practice as a registered nurse part-time in a behavioral health hospital serving the state of Kentucky.
His research interests include issues related to nursing education and the recruitment and retention of the male nurse.
