Bio

Liz Sturgeon is an Associate Professor in the School of Nursing at WKU.  She received the ADN (2001), BSN (2004) and MSN with an emphasis in Nursing Education (2005) from WKU.  Dr. Sturgeon earned her Ph.D. in Nursing from the University of Kentucky in 2012.  She is recognized as a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) by the National League for Nursing.  She has been an educator at WKU since 2005.  Prior to teaching, she practiced in Oncology and Critical Care Nursing.

Dr. Sturgeon teaches Medical Surgical Nursing 1 and Evidence-Based Practice in the BSN prelicensure program and Graduate Research in the MSN program.

She is an active member of the American Nurses Association, Sigma Theta Tau International, Southern Nursing Research Society, and the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses.  Her research interests include mechanically ventilated adults and issues related to nursing education and nurse educators.

Dr Sturgeon has Associate Graduate Faculty Status with the Graduate School.
