Ice Climbing, Cedar Falls, IA

What better way to kick off the semester than strapper on a harness and climbing some ice? Don't let the name intimidate you; ice climbing is a blast for all skill levels. You'll spend the weekend learning to climb on a repurposed 80-foot grain silo in the fields of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Get outside and beat the cold!

Winter Backpacking, Red River Gorge, KY

Join us as we explore Kentucky’s famous Red River Gorge. You’ll learn the basics of winter camping as we traverse through this winter wonderland.

Utah Explore and Bike, Moab UT

Go West this spring break! Moab, UT is one of the world’s best locations for adventure sports. Learn to mountain bike and canyoneer (hiking mixed with rappelling) in the beautiful sandstone canyons of Utah. This week long adventure includes mountain bike rentals, instruction, and technical canyoneering guiding. Don’t miss out on this opportunity explore the wild side of Utah!

Canoe the Buffalo River, AR

Spend your spring break with ORAC in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas. Arkansas is home to the nation’s first national river, the Buffalo. Come along as we explore the Buffalo River, Whitaker Point, Hemmed-in-Hollow, Indian Creek, and more. You’ll learn the basics of flat water and whitewater canoeing and have the opportunity to hike to some of Arkansas’s most beautiful sights.

Enjoy a relaxing day hike along the shores of beautiful Nolin Lake. Take in the crisp spring air and great views just an hour away from Bowling Green.

Intro to Canoe and Compass, McChesney Field Campus

Ever wanted to learn how to navigate or paddle? This overnight trip is geared to those wanting to be introduced to both activities close to home. You’ll learn the basics of how to find your way in the wilderness as well as how to paddle safely.

Full Moon Hike and Climb, Garden of the Gods, IL

Let’s take advantage of the full moon and hike and climb! The Garden of the Gods in southern Illinois is one of the premier hiking destinations in the whole state. Watch the sun set over the sandstone bluffs and enjoy hiking by the light of the moon. The following day you’ll learn to rock climb at nearby Giant City State Park where you’ll have the opportunity to climb and rappel in the beautiful Shawnee National Forest.

Backpacking, Fiery Gizzard Trail, TN

Like waterfalls? So do we. Backpack along one of the top 20trails in the United States. Along the way you’ll find cascading streams, overlooks, rocky gorges, and lush woodlands. Your weekend will come to and end with breathtaking views of the 60 foot Foster Falls located just outside Chattanooga.

Weekend Paddle, Green River, KY

Load the canoes and off you go! Paddle during the day and camp at night on this weekend canoe trip on the Green River.

Rock Climbing, Red River Gorge, KY

Enjoy a weekend of instruction and skills building in one of the world’s premier climbing areas. “The Red” boasts thousands of routes to challenge both novice and expert climbers. This trip will introduce the fundamentals of rock climbing in one of the most beautiful settings in Kentucky.

Speed your way on fun single-track trails just an hour from Bowling Green! This day trip, geared toward the beginner and intermediate rider, will focus on technique and riding form.

Whitewater Rafting, Ocoee River, TN

Have some fun before finals take over! The Ocoee River is a great place to learn how to raft. You’ll take on class III and IV rapids on the river where the Atlanta Olympic Games were held. This action packed overnight trip will be full of laughs, rapids, and great views.

Mountain Biking/Hiking, Brown County, IN

Come along with us before finals as we head to the rolling hills of Indiana. Brown County State Park is one of the best places to mountain bike in the region. We’ll bike and hike along the 20+ miles of trail within the park.

What’s more rad than bikes with glow sticks and headlamps riding through the woods? This last hurrah before finals will be one for the ages as you wind your way along the fun single-track trails right here in Bowling Green.

Canoe the Canadian Border, Boundary Waters, MN

Join us in the Land of 10,000 Lakes to unwind after finals. Minnesota’s finest outdoor gem, the Boundary Waters, forms the border between the U.S. and our northerly neighbors. Enjoy the peace and solitude of these lakes as we canoe and portage. Participants will experience some of the most pristine wilderness this country has to offer on this 4 night, 5 day paddling trip.

Alpine Backpacking, Rocky Mountain National Park, CO

Bring your camera! Enjoy postcard views at every turn on this weeklong expedition. The Rocky Mountains boast some of America’s most iconic scenery making this the trip of a lifetime. Backpack above treeline and spend your evenings watching the sun set over the Continental Divide. Your group will spend 5 days in the pristine wilderness of the Colorado Rockies.

 Trip registration takes place at the ORAC office in the Preston Health and Activities Center. Trip registration is first come, first serve. Unless otherwise noted, trip costs are all inclusive with the exception of meals. All pre-trip meetings take place at the Preston Center and are mandatory unless prior arrangements have been made with ORAC staff.
