FILM: Blade Runner

April 17th, 7:30pm

In a cyberpunk vision of the future, man has developed the technology to create replicants, human clones used to serve in the colonies outside Earth but with fixed lifespans. In Los Angeles, 2019, Deckard is a Blade Runner, a cop who specializes in terminating replicants. While originally in retirement, he is forced to re-enter the force when four replicants escape from an off-world colony to Earth. However, it turns out that his mission becomes an opportunity for him to learn what it really means to be human.

2nd Annual Study of Religion Lecture

Dr. Paul Fischer, Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at WKU, will present "Saved by Grace: Soteriology in Chinese Religions." Dr. Fischer teaches Chinese intellectual history and offers courses on Confucianism, Daoism, cultural history, and premodern literature. He has published two articles of text criticism on ancient texts, has finished a book on early Syncretism, and is currently examining remnants of the "lost" Masters texts listed in the first imperial library catalog.
