Dr. George Kontos

Dr. George Kontos teaches computer courses in the division of Business in the School of Professional Studies (SPS) including Introduction to Computing (CSCI 145C), Electronic Spreadsheets (INS 270C), Web Page Design (INS 275C), and Advanced Software Applications (INS 285C).
Research and Creative Activity
George’s research interests include online teaching and learning as well as investigating strategies that lead to successful online teaching and learning. He likes to involve his students in projects that benefit the community. One such project is his Web Page Design project, in which students work with local businesses and non-profits to create websites that promote and advertise businesses or non-profits to the community.
George was born in Athens, Greece and educated in Greece (Bachelor’s in Mathematics) and in the USA (Masters in Computer Science, Doctorate in Education). He has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses. He has taught courses internationally including courses in Greece, Iran, Iraq, UAE, and USA. George has extensively used mainframes and personal computers in his teaching. He started teaching online classes in the 1990s, has continued teaching online, and does not plan to stop teaching online. Besides teaching, George’s interests include domestic and world travel. He has traveled throughout the United States and has also traveled in Europe, the Middle East, Mexico, Central America, and Southeast Asia. Finally, he is very active in ballroom dancing and international folk dancing.
