WKU offices in Bowling Green will open at 10 a.m. Friday. Classes Friday remain canceled and campuses in Glasgow, Owensboro and Elizabethtown/Ft. Knox remain closed Friday. Saturday classes in Bowling Green will proceed as scheduled. Brief biography

Dr. McFarland taught full time at Western from 1971 until 2003 and has been on "optional retirement" since then. He was a Fulbright Senior Lecturer in the Soviet Union in 1989. He directed the University Honors Program from 1990 to 1998, and was named Distinguished University Professor in 1998.
