WKU Sisterhood Spotlight: Nowelle Altman-Sigman ('13)

Nowelle Altman-Sigman ('13)

Hometown: Somerset, Ky. (but I really claim Bowling Green only 😊)

Current City: Bowling Green, Ky.

When did you attend WKU? August 2009 - December 2013 including my time at the Gatton Academy from August 2009 - May 2011.

What activities were you involved in as a student? Along with your Sisterhood membership, have you been involved in other WKU activities as an alumna?  I wish I had been more involved as a student. I primarily did research in Organic Chemistry, Psychology and Exercise Science. I was so busy being Pre-Med, I wish I'd taken advantage of the other organizations WKU had to offer. I've been much more involved as an alum. I was on the Board of Directors for the Alumni Association. We have a scholarship in our name for Ogden College students who also have a work-study position as both my husband and I did as students.

Do you have a favorite memory from the Hill? Meeting my husband in our Calculus II class tops the list of my memories on the Hill.

Is there a Sisterhood moment that stands out to you or made an impact? Hearing from the students how our last grant award positively affected them.

If you work, what do you do? I'm a chiropractor who specializes in pediatrics and functional medicine. I also am an author and mental/spiritual/emotional health coach.

Tell us about your family: I have a husband, Nick Sigman, who works as a network engineer at WKU. No children yet!

Do you have any passion projects, other than WKU Sisterhood? Being a mental/spiritual/emotional health coach is one of my passions as not everyone is fortunate enough to get access to mental health therapy. Therefore, I release free resources to aid others in their health journey, including the things I write.

Fun fact about yourself:  Sharks are my favorite animal. Sloths are my second favorite.
