Program Admission Information

In addition to the normal admission and transfer criteria as set by the University, the Sport Management program at Western Kentucky University has adopted the following program entry requirements:

Students must:

1.Complete a minimum of 45 hours with at least 1 semester having been completed at Western Kentucky University.

2.Complete the following courses with a grade of “C” or higher. ENG 100, ECON 202, MATH 109 or higher, SPM 200, MKT 220, COMM 145/161

3.Have a WKU Grade Point Average of at least 2.5 overall.

4. All application materials must be received by the Sport Management  Program in order to be fully considered for entrance into the program. A complete application packet would include: 1) a completed application (found under Documents and Forms), 2) a change of major form (from TopNet) indicating changing from 572P to the 572 program code, and 3) a resume. All items should be completed and then delivered to Smith Stadium East Room 1015.

5. Students will not be permitted to register for any 400 level SPM course until they have been admitted to the program and their change of major form has been processed by the Academic Advising and Retention Center.

Application materials may be completed and submitted to the Sport Management program as soon as all criteria has been met. The Sport Management faculty will meet regularly to consider admission applications. The Sport Management Program Coordinator will inform individuals about the status of the admission into the program by the end of the 1st week of every month during the academic year.

NOTE: Entrance in the Sport Management program is granted on a competitive basis and obtaining and completing the minimum requirements set forth above does not guarantee admission to the program. You will receive notification of your acceptance into the program through the University’s e-mail system. Registration into upper division courses within the Sport Management program will not be permitted until your official acceptance. Any courses taken at another institution must be transferred to WKU and show up on your official transcript at WKU before they will be considered.
