Accomplishments

The WKU Staff Council works laboriously to accomplish the goals and objectives set forth at each year's retreat.

Staff Council Accomplishments 2011-2012
  • Increased ways of raising money for Book Scholarships
  • Increased number of Book Scholarships awarded, while maintaining amount awarded
  • Creation of new website within OUCampus
  • Worked with the Administrative Council on the new Strategic Plan
  • Fall Break Brunch
  • Reviewal and Update of Campus Smoking Policy
  • Participated in roundtable discussion with other Kentucky colleges' staff representatives
  • Provided feedback to Health Services concerning potential Employee Wellness Program logos

  • Supported BSA hirings to full-time rather than part-time for 6 months

  • Implementation of the Staff Leadership Institute

  • Provided introductory computer classes for employees as requested
  • Helped to raise university contribution to health insurance to $363 per employee
  • Researched and presented recommendations to prevent workplace violence
  • Hosted and provided the Fall Break Brunch
  • Ran the first online Staff Regent election, in fact, ran it several times
  • Distributed market pool adjustment to selected employees
  • Continued to pursue use of KTRS sick time toward retirement benefit
  • Recommended changes to performance appraisal form and policy

Staff Council Accomplishments 2001-2002
  • Developed Staff Excellence Awards
  • Worked with Budget Council to acquire$75,000 market adjustment pool for staff
  • Coordinated annual Fall Brunch
  • Assisted, with University Senate, in obtaining an increase in the University's contribution to health insurance of $100 per month, per employee
  • Developed shared sick leave program with Human Resources
  • Helped get extra salary pool for part-time staff in 2002-2001 budget
  • Fought to keep current payroll system
