EPA Fellowships for Undergraduate Environmental Study
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is offering undergraduate fellowships for bachelor level students in environmental fields of study. Subject to availability of funding, and other applicable considerations, EPA plans to award approximately 40 new fellowships by July 30, 2012. Paper applications due December 12, 2011 at 4 PM ET; electronic applications due December 12, 2011, at 11:59:59 PM ET.
National Student Design Competition for Sustainability Grant
U.S. EPA is seeking applications proposing to research, develop and design solutions to real world challenges involving the overall sustainability of human society. Apply by December 22, 2011.
The Campus Ecology program is helping transform the nation's college campuses into living models of an ecologically sustainable society, while training a new generation of environmental leaders. The program awards fellowships to undergraduate and graduate students who desire to help reverse global warming on campus and beyond. The maximum grant request is $3,000.
Sustainability Fellows, Green Cities Corps
The Green Cities Corps, a 10-month sustainability fellowship program based in Pittsburgh, Pa. that includes hands-on training in local sustainability issues and solutions, is recruiting for several fellowships starting February 2012. Requires a Bachelor's degree.
Green Living Project Fall Student Film Project
Deadline: November 15, 2011
The Green Living Project tri-annual Student Film Project gives students (grades 6 - college) the opportunity to submit a short film, five minutes or less, that tells a unique, creative, and compelling story about a local or global sustainability-related project. Winning films will be screened at GLP''s third Annual Los Angeles Premiere in December. Winners also receive prize packages from Student Film Project sponsors.

Description: The intern will conduct trails monitoring along more than 90 miles of backcountry trails; use established monitoring protocols to measure such resource components as tread depth, erosion, vegetative cover, slope, sensitive resources, human-caused impacts, etc.; collect data to allow park management to establish best management practices in regardsto the heavily used trail system. Description: The intern will assist the resource management staff and coordinate with the ranger staff, with surveying and mapping populations most at risk, patrolling ginseng and goldenseal populations during the harvest season, installing remote sensors, monitoring of plant populations, proactively marking roots in the field with traceable dye, and assisting with the processing of poached roots. Intern will also establish contact with dealers to discourage the buying of marked roots and to report potential sellers of poached roots to Law Enforcement.
