9/11 Heroes Run - 5K and Family Run Walk

Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run

Each year on September 11th the Travis Manion Foundation brings local communities together for a 9/11 Heroes Run to remember, honor and support our men and women in the Armed Services, Police, Firefighter and First Responder communities who protect and serve our country every day. With the help of Chevrolet and other great sponsors, there were 47 races hosted internationally in 2012 giving Americans the opportunity to run, volunteer, donate, cheer but most of all honor the fallen.

The Student Veterans Alliance hosted one here in Bowling Green, KY at Keriakes Park on September 8th, 2012. We were able to raise $500 to support the Pennyroyal Veterans Center in Hopkinsville, Ky.  This was the first 9/11 Heroes Run hosted in the state of Kentucky.

This year we have inspired one of our participants to host a 9/11 Heroes Run in Madisonville, Ky on September 8th at 8:00 pm.  Proceeds from the race will be divided among the Travis Manion Foundation and the police and fire departments of Madisonville.  This event honors those killed on September 11th, and those in the war since.  The event includes a 5k run and 1 mile run/walk event.  If you are interested in signing up or joining the SVA group in attendance please send a message to student.veterans@wku.edu and visit 911heroesrun.com for more information.
