Preparing for a Quality Matters Review: Tasks & Tools

Preparing for a Quality Matters Review: Tasks & Tools

FaCET periodically offers a workday for those wanting to prepare a course for Quality Matters review. It is a day with mini-lessons, then time to work on your course materials, then a mini-lesson and so on until all the QM standards have been covered. You will leave with some work accomplished, a clear idea of what your next steps are and a to-do list that can be integrated as you are able.

Tasks to do before the workday.

  1. __1 minute: tell FaCET if you will bring your own laptop or need one of ours.
  2. __5 minutes: You will want to work on one (only one) course during workday. How do you decide.
    • which course will be your focus,
    • what materials to bring and
    • where to work (in Blackboard or on thumb drive or hidden in Blackboard)?
There are a number of considerations.
    • If you are using QM as just a guide to course design then open this document.
    • If you are wanting QM Recognition then open this document.
Pick the one that fits your goals. The documents lay out all considerations and lead you through deciding what actual course to work on (e.g., in Blackboard or on a separate document or hidden in Blackboard) and how to do it technologically.
  3. __1 minute: Retain a link to this page you are currently reading where you can get to it during the workday. —could be in email or a flash drive or in Blackboard.

Also bring core course files that you will want to revise (e.g., syllabus, major assignment instructions, rubrics).

Files you will use at the Workday.
