Bio
Wren joined the staff at FaCET in January 2010 as Instructional Coordinator. She works with graduate students and faculty members through the Basic Skills of College Teaching program; consults with faculty on a variety of teaching-related issues; manages FaCET’s publications (including the booklets, brochures, and the Teaching Spirit newsletter); and coordinates and facilitates the seminars, workshops, camps, and conferences that FaCET offers at WKU.
Prior to coming to WKU, from 2005-2009, she was an Assistant Professor of English at Bowling Green Technical College, part of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System, where she taught developmental English, college composition, literature, and humanities courses. While there, she was a member of the Faculty Senate’s Executive Council, serving as Vice Chair (2006-2008) and Secretary (2008-2009); she chaired the KCTCS English Curriculum Committee (2008-2009); and she served as an advisor for the National Technical Honor Society (2006-2009), among other activities. Wren was nominated for the BGTC 2010 Outstanding Teamwork and Collaboration Award, the KCTCS New Horizons 2009-2010 Faculty Award of Excellence, and the BGTC 2008-2009 Teaching Excellence Award during her tenure at BGTC.
Wren is an alumna of WKU (B.A. in History; 1996; M.A. in English, 1999; M.A.E. in Student Affairs, 2004; and Certificate in International Student Services, 2008) and the University of Louisville (2010, Ph.D. in Education). She has taught English on the Hill since 1997 and started teaching yoga in 2009. When she is not working with graduate students and faculty at FaCET or teaching at WKU or for KCTCS, Wren serves as a Collegiate Province Officer for Sigma Kappa Sorority, an appointed national officer position. She is also the faculty advisor for Delta Tau Delta fraternity and for WKU Vox.
