Bio

A native of Humacao, Puerto Rico, Mr. Rivera holds an MFA in choreography and BFA in dance from Purchase College. Over his performing career he has danced with with Ballet Hispanico of New York (13 seasons) where he helped to create over 20 original works, Minnesota Ballet (principal dancer), Ballet Theater of Pennsylvania, the European tour of West Side Story and Ballet Municipal de San Juan. He has appeared as guest artist with Connecticut Ballet, Thomas/Ortiz Dance, Ballet Concierto de Puerto Rico, Westchester Ballet and Brooklyn Ballet, among others. Mr. Rivera has had the honor of performing the works of Mark Morris,  José Limon, Kenneth McMillan, Margot Sapinton, Graciela Daniel, Kevin Wynn, Vicente Nebrada, Talley Beatty and George Balanchine. His television credits include PBS’ Setting the Stage, NBC’s 20th Hispanic Heritage Awards, Hispanic Day Parade with Brenda Blackmon, Puerto Rican Day Parade with Ernie Anastos and the documentary "Pedro Ruiz Home Coming" among others. His choreographies have been performed in New Jersey and New York City.
