Julia Rivas, Program Support Specialist, has been on staff since the beginning stages of the Center for Citizenship and Social Justice. Julia graduated from WKU in 2006 with a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree with emphasis in Organization and Communication of Ideas. Simultaneously, she acquired a Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership, making her a National Certified Nonprofit Professional. In previous years, Julia worked at the WKU ALIVE Center as a Multicultural Services Coordinator and the Coordinator of the Hispanic GED and ESL Program. Most recently she was the Office Associate for the ALIVE Center, where she served as the primary point of contact for administrative support in maintaining resources and fielding communications related to the university’s regional stewardship mission.
Julia is proud of being first generation Latina alumni and strives to assist students in any way possible to see them succeed. Because of this, she decided to continue in the higher education field and is currently in her second year of the Master of Arts in Education degree in Student Affairs program at WKU.
