Disaster Services: Volunteers are needed to respond to local, regional, state and national disasters. Free training is provided.

Disaster Action Team: Volunteers are needed to respond to single-family fires with a disaster action team supervisor.

Blood Drive Worker: Volunteers are needed to greet and register blood donors.

Special Projects: Volunteers are needed to assist with various duties for fundraising and special events.

The Center for Courageous Kids

The Center for Courageous Kids is medical based camp located in Scottsville, KY. We are a non-profit organization serving children with chronic- illnesses and terminal conditions. We have 9 week long Summer sessions and 20 family retreats in the Fall and Spring. 

Equestrian Program: Volunteers assist our barn staff in leading horses for campers. You are able to provide an opportunity for the first time for many campers. Volunteers are needed throughout the summer and weekend retreats. Riding sessions typically are 3-4 hour commitment.

Woodshop Cutters: Create woodshop projects from home or at camp when camp is not in session. Patterns are provided for projects and new ideas are also welcome. Experience in wood crafting is required.

Housekeeping: Assist our full-time staff with preparing camp for weekend retreats and summer sessions by making beds, doing laundry, and cleaning program areas and cabins.

Maintenance: Work with our facilities staff in helping to keep our grounds and camp looking beautiful and well groomed. Our volunteers will help with mowing and ground maintenance as well as minor repairs such as painting and various other handyman chores.

Habitat for Humanity of Bowling Green/Warren County, Inc.

Habitat Restore:

We are in need of volunteers at our Habitat ReStore located @ 530 31W Bypass (across from the Warren County Water District). We are open Tuesday - Saturday, 9am - 5pm. We always need help in the store - organizing, cleaning, assisting customers, etc. We also need help on our ReStore truck, picking up donations - this is done Tuesday - Friday. We also have five (5) "Future Habitat Home" lots which we need to maintain (grass cutting). Lost River Cave & Valley

Need part-time volunteers to greet visitors at the butterfly house, for trail beautification and various other projects. Any days during the summer are available, but weekend help are is most needed. Volunteers need to be 18 years and older.

Owensboro Unique Botanical Garden

Volunteers needed to hep weed, mulch, plant, and assist with maintenance of the garden. Help us keep it beautiful! 


Potter Children's Home

Volunteers are needed weekly to help with grounds maintenance. Assist with mowing, trimming, weeding, and general upkeep. Equipment provided. Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM (anytime during this time period).

A volunteer is needed weekly to help with stocking and cleaning the food pantry. Assist with incoming grocery items, stocking shelves, and general cleaning. Monday-Friday, between the hours 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM, 2-3 hours per week.

Volunteers needed to purchase change of season clothing and shoes for children at Potter Children's home. A sheet will be given to you with a picture of the child, their sizes and favorite colors and styles and their specific needs. You can then make purchases and deliver them to Potter.

Public Theatre of Kentucky

Theatre Cleaning-cleaning the theatre (gallery, bathrooms, dressing room, auditorium) before every production. Cleaning opportunities occur several times a month. PTK Studio also needs organized and cleaned

Ushers-this may involve cleaning gallery and/or auditorium, passing out programs, seating patrons. Ushers see the play for free.

Salvation Army

Needs general maintenance, landscaping, computer help. Their big programs are bell ringing at the holidays and monitoring of their Angel Tree at the Mall. Also need help with applications for participants in the Angel Tree Program. Time period starts after Thanksgiving in November through December. Need Bosnian and Spanish translators. Also, needed is help with the thrift store or kitchen. Volunteers need to be 16 years old or older.

The Western Kentucky Botanical Garden

Volunteer Days: 8:00 am – 12:00 Noon. Every first Saturday and the third Wednesday of each month beginning March through October. Please refer to the calendar for specific dates. Volunteer work is usually  weeding, fertilizing, mulching, spraying, replanting, and getting beds ready for the next season.

Garden Greeter: Anytime between 9:00 am – 3:00 pm Monday through Friday. Garden greeters are our voice for the Garden and perform such functions as answering the phone, greeting visitors, preparing mailings, and assisting the Executive Director. Adopt-a-Spot: Any designated garden or specific area of the Garden. Those individuals or organizations that adopt a spot maintain their area of the Garden throughout the year. To keep an area looking good, this usually requires at least twice a month maintenance and sometimes once a week.

Catering Help: As needed. The Botanical Garden caters events at the Garden and always needs help. Catering help usually assists in setting up tables & chairs, decorations, etc., preparation of the food and beverages, serving, and cleaning up. Program/event assistance: As needed. The Botanical Garden has many educational programs and scheduled events (Annual plant sale, Daylily Festival & Scarecrow Festival) throughout the year.

Instructors who have knowledge of specific fauna and flora are encouraged to volunteer time to support our educational programs. Also, extra help is always needed in preparing for a major weekend event.
