About the Certificate

The certificate in Food Processing and Technology is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the food industry or for professionals working in the food processing industry who have a high school diploma or a bachelor's degree in another field.  The certificate will equip its graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills in food processing, food safety, and food regulations to succeed and broaden their careers opportunities in the food industry.

Curriculum

The certificate in Food Processing and Technology requires completion of 12 credit hours. The required courses are as follows:

Lean Six Sigma Graduate Certificate

Offered by Western Kentucky University Department of Architectural and Manufacturing Sciences in cooperation with the Engineering Technology Management program

The certificate provides the knowledge and practical skills needed for successful completion of the American Society of Quality Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification exams and the Society of Manufacturing Engineer's Lean Certification-Bronze level exam.

Covers concepts, principles, and skills related to six sigma, lean, theory of constraints, and total quality management. It is applicable for students and employees seeking professional Black/Green Belt or Lean certification.

To begin, submit an application for graduate admission along with official transcripts indicating that you have a baccalaureate degree to the Office of Graduate Studies. Once accepted, submit the certificate program study form. Courses taken in the certificate count towards the Master of Science in Engineering Technology Management.
