"Since enrolling in the Ogden College at Western Kentucky University, I have enjoyed an excellent learning environment. The teaching staff has shown genuine interest in my success in everything from helping me to choose the right major, to providing several opportunities to help jumpstart my future career. I am also privileged to enjoy the college experience alongside very sociable and knowledgeable peers with many diverse backgrounds and unique goals." -Justin Edwards-Page
"My name is Audrey Castlen. I am currently a senior and have been a student worker in the AMS main office and a member for WKU's Habitat for Humanity for the past three years. Through working in the main office, I have gained a lot of insight on how to work as a team player and how to put my best effort forthright. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the faculty and staff over these past three years. I got involved with Western's Habitat for Humanity through Bryan Reaka, a professor of the AMS department. Habitat for Humanity has changed my life. It has shown me that I can do much more than I ever thought I could. It has made me a more caring, confident, and helpful person. I have gained numerous amounts of knowledge of building, restoration, and about tools in general. Western Kentucky University has offered me many different opportunities, and I can gladly say that each and every one has shaped me to be the person I am today." -Audrey Castlen
"As a student here at WKU my experience has been a great one and full of new things, I am continuing to do new things as the semesters past and I can only imagine what it will be like the next 3 semesters for me. As an AMS major my love for architecture and designing has grown and I can say that by being a part of certain things I can really say this is what I want to do. The faculty and staff in the AMS department are all willing to help you as long as you reach out to them and try to make the best of yourself. My freshman year I had really reached out to my advisor, Neal Downing and made sure he knew who I was. Might have annoyed him but I made sure my presence was made with him, he is also an architect and just by letting the staff know that you are serious, it will make your experience within the department a lot more smoother. IT WILL NOT BE ANY EASIER. I have 3 more semesters left til I graduate and I really hope I can learn as much as I can and push myself to a newer level to become a better student and reach my aspirations." -DaMario Walker-Brown
"Western Kentucky University's Advanced Manufacturing program is for any individual with desire to work in engineering, manufacturing, electrical controls, or management and has given me everything I need and more to be successful in industry. The core of the program blends technical and manufacturing/distribution curriculum as well as management courses in a healthy balance that industry leaders have shown to desire. The faculty within the department foster a student's desire for greater understanding while encouraging hands-on learning in and outside of class. Thanks to this program, I have had internships available by the end of my first semester in Advanced Manufacturing with job offers even before graduation. With the support of the faculty, I have been offered opportunities that include becoming a Certified Manufacturing Specialist through ATMAE, research projects, graduate school, and ultimately a desire to become more than I anticipated my freshman year on WKU's campus." – Nick Eaton
"As a rising senior who has seen different educational departments within Western Kentucky University, there has been no other department that has enabled and motivated me to excel beyond what was required; because of the Architectural Science program, I am where I am today. Architecture has become a passion of mine and that could not have happened if it wasn't for the professors. Not only do the professors give their students knowledge, they give them wisdom and experience -characteristics that nobody can take that away. It's one thing if you know what something is but is a another if you know what it is and it's application; that is what sets apart WKU's Architectural Science department from the rest. As for my peers, we are all super competitive and strive to be the best we can be but at the end of the day we are one big diverse family." – Summer Abston
