Dear WKU Faculty and Staff:

The Bioinformatics and Information Center (BISC) would like to invite you to become a member.   The mission of BISC is to build and maintain an interdisciplinary community, with interests in informatics and information science, that collaborates to solve problems.  BISC supports software and facilities, such as the High Performance Computing Center (HPCC), to fulfill this mission.  Currently, we have 60 members from eight WKU departments.  Please visit our website:  http://www.wku.edu/bioinformatics for more information.

The High Performance Computing Center (HPCC) (http://hpc.wku.edu) is located at the Lost River Data Center in the WKU Center for Research and Development (http://www.wku.edu/crd).  The HPCC extends the BISC mission by supporting:

  • research and economic development,
  • WKU's educational mission,
  • the development of a competitive workforce by training students on the latest technology,
  • the building of intellectual capital by attracting and retaining faculty and staff,
  • public and private collaborations.

BISC sponsors workshops and seminars on some of the latest informatics topics.  BISC also offers support for graduate student research and student travel.

If you are interested in becoming a member of BISC, please forward a current CV and a statement expressing why you want to join BISC to bisc@wku.edu.
