Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy
The Department of Counseling and Student Affairs offers a MAE in Counseling. Included in this degree option are two choices students can make to fit their programs of study to their primary areas of interest. These choices include concentrations in Marriage and Family Therapy or Clinical Mental Health Counseling. is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).
Our counseling programs provide graduates the credentials necessary to acquire a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate designation from the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors or to obtain an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist permit from the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Marriage and Family Therapists . Both these credentials are necessary steps toward obtaining licensure as Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) or as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of Kentucky. In addition, these concentrations qualify graduates for certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
