The Vickie and Dan Renshaw Early Childhood Center (RECC) provides developmentally appropriate activities in inclusive group settings for children of all abilities. Group sessions will be composed of a ratio of approximately 50% non-delayed children to 50% delayed children. Groups are currently provided for children between the ages of 15 months and kindergarten age.

RECC developmental play group session times vary according to the age of the children and the schedule of activities. However a sample toddler, preschool, and kindergarten group schedule is included below for your review.

SAMPLE Toddler (15mths to 3yrs) Schedule (2 ½ hours)

CENTERS (guided free play)—60 minutes

STORY TIME (book & songs related to theme)—15 minutes

SNACK—15 minutes

SMALL GROUP (art and/or sensory activities related to theme)—30 minutes

MUSIC & MOVEMENT —30 minutes

SAMPLE Preschool (3 to 5 yrs) Schedule (2 ½ hours)

MORNING CIRCLE (choose centers)—10 minutes

CENTERS -- 50 minutes

CIRCLE (book and song related to theme)

SNACK—15 minutes

SMALL GROUPS (Art, Sensory, theme-related activity)—30 minutes

MUSIC & MOVEMENT —30 minutes

SAMPLE Kindergarten (after-school) Schedule (1 1/2 hours)

ARRIVAL/SNACK --15 minutes

CIRCLE -- 15 minutes

CENTERS -- 30 minutes

PARTNER TIME -- 15 minutes

SMALL GROUP -- 15 minutes

OUTSIDE/GROSS MOTOR -- 15 minutes

MUSIC & MOVEMENT -- 15 minutes

 

 

Other Services: RECC provides limited outreach consultation to assist and provide training for families of children with special needs who are dealing with significant behavioral issues. RECC also has limited funding for occupational therapy evaluations.
