Accepted PTCAS Applicants

 

Doctorate in Physical Therapy Prerequisite Courses

The prerequisite courses for Physical Therapy vary from program to program.  Please refer to the Physical Therapy department website for specific prerequisite courses for the program or programs to which you are planning to apply.  It is the student’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate prerequisite courses are completed prior to applying to the Physical Therapy Program(s) that s/he chooses.   Please refer to the Physical Therapy Centralized Application Center (PTCAS) for detailed information regarding the application process to PT school.

  • Biology:  BIOL 120 (3) / 121 (1) and/or 122 (3) / 123 (1); [BIOL 224/225; 321 and 330/331]
  • Anatomy:  BIOL 131 (4) and 231 (4)
  • Chemistry:  CHEM 120 (4) / 121 (1) ; 222 (4) / 223 (1)
  • Physics:  PHYS 231 (3) / 232 (1) ; 332 (3) / 233 (1)  [or 201/207; 202/208]
  • Math:  MATH 116 College Algebra and MATH 117 Trigonometry
  • Statistics: PH 383 Biostatistics/Health Sci or [any one of the following: BIOL 283 Introductory Biostats or MATH 183 Statistics]
  • Psychology:  PSY 100 Intro to Psychology (3); PSY 199 Development psychology (3)
  • Medical terminology: AH 290  (2)

Master of Science in Occupational Therapy

The prerequisite courses for Occupational Therapy vary from program to program.  Please refer to each respective school’s website for specific prerequisite courses for the program or programs to which you are planning to apply.  It is the student’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate prerequisite courses are completed prior to applying to the Occupational Therapy Program(s) that s/he chooses.   Please refer to the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) for detailed information regarding the application process to OT school.

  • Biology: BIOL 113 (3) / BIOL 114 (1) General Biology w/ Lab
  • Anatomy:  BIOL 131 (4) and 231 (4)
  • Statistics: PH 383 Biostatistics/Health Sci or [any one of the following: BIOL 283 Introductory Biostats or MATH 183 Statistics]
  • Psychology:  PSY 100 Intro to Psychology (3); PSY 199 Development psychology (3); PSY 220 Developmental Psychology
  • Medical terminology: AH 290  (2)

Below is a list of some of the accredited Masters and Doctoral Level OT programs in the TN, KY, OH region.  Please refer to each respective University’s website to determine OT admission requirements.   Once you have made a decision on schools to which you would like to apply, bring the specific prerequisite courses to your advisor during your advising session so a schedule can be made.  You may find other schools to which you would like to apply that are not listed below.  


 

Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies

The prerequisite courses for Physician Assistant Studies vary from program to program.  Please refer to each respective school’s website for specific prerequisite courses for the program or programs to which you are planning to apply.  It is the student’s responsibility to ensure the appropriate prerequisite courses are completed prior to applying to the Physician Assistant Program(s) that s/he chooses.   Please refer to the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) for detailed information regarding the application process to PA school.
