WKU Health Services : Information for Faculty and Staff

Welcome to WKU Health Services!

As a WKU faculty/staff employee we encourage you to take full advantage of having convenient access to a quality health care facility on campus. The university employee health insurance plan is administered by Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. WKU's health plan is a PPO (Preferred Provider Organization) and offers a large selection of network providers, which includes WKU Health Services. So the next time you or a family member is not feeling well, call us and schedule an appointment.

Health Services currently has three board certified physicians Patricia Blewett, MD, Family Medicine, Allen Redden, MD, Internal Medicine and Ray Rowland, MD, Family Medicine. We also have two full-time nurse practitioners, Yolanda Reid, APRN, Family Nurse Practitioner and Leta White, APRN, Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health nurse practitioner. We have additional clinical and support staff who are important in helping our daily operations flow smoothly. If you are interested in becoming a regular patient at WKU Health Services or want to transfer your medical care to us, we will gladly work with your primary care provider to assure you receive quality care.

We have a Complete Blood Count (CBC) machine in-house to help our providers evaluate patient symptoms and monitor certain treatments. A CBC machine measures the concentration of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets in the blood and aids in diagnosing conditions and diseases such as malignancy, anemia, or blood clotting problems.

Please keep in mind that we can continue care if you have orders written by physicians outside of WKUHS.

Most of our visits are scheduled on a walk-in basis, however we recommend scheduling an appointment if possible. A benefit of seeing a provider at WKUHS is the convenience of scheduling an appointment the same day of your illness. Depending on the severity of your illness we will work you into the schedule or you may be asked to schedule an appointment for a later date. Most community providers cannot accommodate patients as quickly as us, which is a benefit to you as a faculty/staff employee of WKU.

Remember, if you are looking for a family physician or just want quick access to a medical provider, Health Services is here for you and your family. If you have questions, feel free to call us at (270)745-5641.
