Honors Freshman Orientation Retreat
The Honors College’s Annual Freshman Orientation Retreat (H4) is a four-day program for freshmen Honors students. The event is held at Deer Run Retreat Center, located in Thompson’s Station, Tenn.
During your time at the camp you will learn what to expect as an Honors College student, know whom to go to for information and advice and surround yourself with peers who will support you throughout your collegiate career. The Honors College is committed to creating positive learning opportunities by encouraging community building, academic excellence, leadership development, and the WKU spirit!
At H4, freshmen get to know the Honors College intimately. You will meet many of your new Honors classmates, get a jump-start on preparing for your first year and planning for academic success, and learn about scholarship, study abroad and research opportunities. You will also meet the Honors faculty and staff who will help you throughout your collegiate career and learn about the different Honors and WKU organizations that will show you how you can get involved in Honors and on campus.
Community building is an important component of the Honors College. A variety of activities are offered at H4 to encourage group interaction, such as low and high ropes courses, kickball, rappelling, climbing, swimming and hiking along with H4 favorites like the Counselor Showcase and the closing bonfire.
H4 is a time to meet the students who you will be spending the next four years with. This unique opportunity is only available to Honors College freshmen.
H4 2016 will take place August 9-12, 2016
Applications will be available after May 1, 2016
