"In short, I serve as a neutral yet supportive person helping staff members understand informal and formal steps for resolving workplace concerns. I can assist you in understanding policy and processes relevant to your situation. I can also assist you in deciding the most appropriate and applicable avenue for resolution. Our conversations are totally confidential and will not be shared with anyone. Generally speaking staff members use the ombudsperson when they are contemplating what steps to take to address difficulties in the work environment.
There are other officials and offices on campus that can assist you. While these offices cannot guarantee confidentiality, they can provide information, advice, and support:
-The Office of Equal Opportunity (http://www.wku.edu/eoo/) can assist you with questions related to discrimination and sexual harassment.
- Jennifer McLeod (email@example.com) is a Department of Human Resources staff member who serves in an ombudsperson role for Facilities Management.
-The Staff Council (http://www.wku.edu/staffcouncil/) is another source of information and support regarding policies related to staff members.
Life is too short and too complicated to be trouble-free. Conflict on the job is inevitable and it is hard for any of us to remain objective and rational when we feel unfairly treated or unappreciated.
