Streaming Videos
Apart from the DVD movie collection, WKU Libraries also has a large collection of
streaming videos from subscribed databases. You may be able to locate them through
our One-Search Box or separately from our online catalog TOPCAT, but certainly you'll find the following highlights convenient:
- American History in Video
American History in Video provides the largest and richest collection of video available online for the study
of American history. This release now provides 5,864 titles, equaling approximately
1,529 hours with recent additions. The collection allows students and researchers to analyze historical events, and
their presentation over time, through commercial and governmental newsreels, archival
footage, public affairs footage, and important documentaries.
"Perhaps most fascinating are the Rediscovery Productions films. These documentaries
highlight major, often overlooked contributions of African Americans to social movements,
technological progress and the arts."
- Dance in Video
Dance in Video will contain five hundred hours of dance productions and documentaries
by the most influential performers and companies of the 20th century. Selections cover
ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, experimental, and improvisational dance, as well
as forerunners of the forms and the pioneers of modern concert dance. This release
includes 600 works, equaling 365 hours.
Streaming Audios
- Naxos Music Library
Naxos Music Library is a comprehensive collection of online classical music. It includes
the complete Naxos, Marco Polo and Dacapo catalogues of over 85,000 tracks, including
Classical music, Jazz, World, Folk and Chinese music. Naxos also includes notes on
the works being played as well as biographical information on composers and artists.
Naxos has iPhone and Android apps available.
- National Jukebox (free)
The Library of Congress presents the National Jukebox, which makes historical sound
recordings available to the public free of charge. The Jukebox includes recordings
from the extraordinary collections of the Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio
Visual Conservation and other contributing libraries and archives.
- WKU Libraries Podcast (free)
WKU Libraries organizes a number of literary and community events such as Far Away
Places and Kentucky Live! talk series, SOKY Book Fest and its affiliated programs.
Many of the events have been recorded and podcast with speakers' permission. You
are welcome to sync to our podcast audios and listen to them on the go.
