Bio

Nancy Richey is a native of Mt. Hermon, Kentucky, and has been a faculty member in the Kentucky Library since July 2008. She was previously the Senior Reference Associate at Helm-Cravens Library (2000-2008). She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky and WKU where she received degrees in Information Science and Southern History. Richey is currently Reference and Image Librarian at the Kentucky Library and Museum where she curates materials such as maps, postcards, broadsides and photographs. Richey is a board member of the Janice Holt Giles Historical Society where she acts as a docent at the Kentucky author’s home, now a house museum near Columbia, KY.  She also serves as Registrar for the Samuel Davies Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Nancy is responsible for collection development for the Kentucky Library for Genealogy and Local History and for providing reference and research assistance. Along with the other faculty members in the KLM, she teaches library research instruction to individuals and classes; and actively seeks materials to continue to build the unique image collections of the KLM. When not doing genealogical or historical research, Richey enjoys spending time with her son and other family members.
