Instructor Bio

Mark Baum - Assistant Professor of law in the Paralegal Studies Program at WKU

Mark Baum has had a varied career as an educator, criminal defense and civil litigator, hearings officer, pro term court commissioner, arbitrator and mediator. He is a former Partner in the Vancouver, Washington Law Firm of Baum, Etengoff & Buckley as well as previously hosting a radio-listener call-in program, entitled, The Law and You on Portland's KXL-750 Am and the former KVAN in Vancouver.

Mark is a graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law and received his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Mark has been practicing law since becoming a member of the Washington State Bar in 1981. He has also been admitted to practice in Kentucky and Oregon and before the United States District Court, Western District of Washington, United States Court of Appeals (Ninth Circuit), and the United States Supreme Court.


Legal Seminar Series: Bankruptcy

Course Description

This seminar is designed to introduce you to general information about the Bankruptcy Code Chapters 7, 11 and 13. A bankruptcy attorney will explain the laws regarding debt collection, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Uniform Fraudulent Conveyances Act, exempt property and options for working with creditors to remedy the situation.
