

Benefits of M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan
Increased Campus Knowledge
M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan participants benefit from the opportunity to move to campus a week
early, before the upperclassmen arrive, before classes begin, to learn how to navigate
campus, identify resources, locate classes, and gain "secrets of success" from student
leaders, and WKU faculty and staff.
Social Support Network
Participation in M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan provides new students with countless opportunities
to form connections with fellow students. M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan activities are purposefully
structured to encourage student interaction and facilitate the social networking process.
Classroom Preparedness
M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan's educational sessions provide new students with essential information
and resources to help ensure their success at WKU. Students who participate in M.A.S.T.E.R.
Plan gain valuable insights into the college experience and learn about expectations
for academic success from members of WKU's faculty and staff. As a result of engaging
in M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan educational sessions, students feel more prepared for the first
day of classes and to take on the challenges of college coursework.
Connections
In addition to providing opportunities for peer-to-peer interactions, M.A.S.T.E.R.
Plan also provides new students with opportunities to form connections with WKU faculty,
staff, and administrators. Educational sessions facilitated by WKU faculty and staff
provide opportunities for new students to pose questions and learn strategies for
success. College Luncheons provide opportunities for new students to engage with
faculty and staff within their academic colleges and degree programs. Special events
like Convocation provide opportunities for M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan participants to engage
with WKU's President, Provost, and Vice President for Student Affairs.
Higher Level of Satisfaction with College Experience
Students who participate in M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan report higher levels of satisfaction
with their overall college experience, which has been shown to correlate with success
in college.
On-Time Graduation
M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan participants are retained, and graduate on-time, at a higher rate
than students who do not to participate in M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan.
