Western Leaders serve in three different, yet equally important functions: Crew Members, Team Captains, and Advisory Board. While each function is responsible for different aspects of the M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan,
the three functions complement each other and work to ensure the overall success of
the M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan programs, and a positive orientation experience for all new
students attending WKU.
Western Leaders who serve as Crew Members function as excellent customer service representatives and assist in the implementation of programs during M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan (August 17th-21st, 2014).
*After one year of service, Western Leaders Crew Members have the opportunity to serve as Crew Member Team Captains.
Western Leaders Team Captains provide leadership to teams of up to 10 Crew Members during M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan week (August 17th-21st, 2014), and have one year experience in the Western Leaders Crew Member position.
The Advisory Board serves as the governing board for the Western Leaders organization, and is comprised of six individuals who serve in the following positions: Socials Chair, Marketing Co-Chair, Big Red's Blitz Chair, and Membership Co-Chair. The Advisory Board Chairs/Co-Chairs are responsible for completing tasks in their functional areas, making recommendations to the Board, and voting on decisions that will ultimately shape the Western Leaders organization and the M.A.S.T.E.R. Plan program for the next year's incoming class. Advisory Board members mentor Western Leaders Team Captains and have the opportunity to travel to conferences including the National Association for Campus Activities National Convention (February 15th-19th, Boston, MA) and the Southern Regional Orientation Workshop (March 14th-16th, Clemson, SC). Advisory Board members have two years experience in the Western Leader position (preferred).
