Master of Health Administration Admission Requirements

Admission Requirements for the Traditional or Residential Master of Health

Administration Program:

All applicants are encouraged to take the GRE. However, full admission will be granted to

applicants who fulfill one of the following conditions:

     (i) A minimum score of 1000 (at least 450 on each of the two GRE Sections, Verbal and

     Quantitative), and Analytical Writing Score of 3.5 or better on the OLD GRE Scale;

     OR

     (ii) A score of at least 141 on each of the two GRE Sections, Verbal and Quantitative,

     and Analytical Writing Score of 3.5 or better on the REVISED GRE Scale;

AND

For U.S. Students:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

• A GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale from an accredited college or university

• Application and Graduate School Fees. Apply through: Graduate Admissions

For International Students:

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or its equivalent

• Have at least an undergraduate minor in health, or adequate education in health sciences

• A GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale from an accredited institution or its equivalent

• Satisfactory proficiency in oral and written English based on the Test of English as

   a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Minimum scores: 500 on the written TOEFL; 213 on

   computer-based TOEFL; and 79 on the Internet-based TOEFL

• Application and Graduate School Fees. Apply through: Graduate Admissions

 

Additional Requirements for All Applicants-Mailed to WKU Graduate Studies: The

• Official transcripts from all previous colleges and universities. Foreign transcripts must

include official WES or ECE transcript reports with US grade point equivalencies

• Personal Statement/Letter of Intent (1-2 pages)

• Current Resume

   and Analytical Writing Score of 3.5 or better on the REVISED GRE Scale;

• Two Letters of Recommendation

Alternative Admission Requirements for the Online Executive MHA Program

To qualify for the online Executive MHA Program, applicants must have at least 5 years of

work experience in the healthcare field. Healthcare executives who meet this requirement,

including physicians, nurses, and other practitioners as well as administrative professionals are

encouraged to apply. Interviews shall be conducted on a case-by-case basis in the admission

decision of healthcare professionals with less than five years of work experience to gather

evidence of achievements and success in healthcare position(s) held. There is no Graduate

Record Examination (GRE) requirement for applicants who meet Executive MHA admission

criteria.

Applications must be made in two stages: The first stage includes submission of application

materials to the Executive MHA Program. The second stage of the application requires

submission of materials for admission into the Graduate School, Western Kentucky University.

Only applications that have fulfilled application requirements for both EMHA Program and the

Graduate School will be considered complete.

Part 1: Materials to be submitted to the EMHA Program

(1) Completed and (Electronically) Signed Executive MHA Application and Prerequisite Course

   Worksheet The application should be submitted electronically by clicking the "Submit Form"

   button located on the top right hand corner of the PDF file.

(2) Current resume with details of positions held and a personal statement should attached to this

(3) Two letters of reference from immediate supervisors in the two most recent positions held

   should be sent to this email: mhaexecutiveprogram@wku.edu

Part 2: Materials to be submitted to the WKU Graduate Studies Office

If determined eligible for EMHA after a review of materials under Part 1, the applicant shall be

required to:

(1) Apply to the WKU Graduate School: http://www.wku.edu/graduate/ Click on APPLY NOW

(2) Submit official copies of transcripts from all colleges and universities attended

(3) Pay Graduate Studies Application Fee
