The Fall 2025 FUSE Grant is now open! WKU undergrads can apply for up to $3,000 for research projects, travel, and materials. Earn a $500 award, college credit, and real-world experience. Apply by March 31.

Schulte is a behavioral ecologist who specializes in the chemical aspects of ecology and animal behavior. He studies the use of chemical signaling as a mode of communication in animals and how this affects their behavior in a broader sense.

A WKU biology faculty member has received a National Science Foundation research grant to study how arctic songbirds have adapted to diminished sleep patterns and how that might help in the understanding of sleep loss in humans.
