Meet Our Staff
Clinical Director
Hello, I’m Bethany Johnson, the Clinical Director at the Talley Family Counseling Center. I graduated from WKU’s Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling program in 2016, and earned my undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Kentucky. With experience in private practice, community mental health, and school settings, I’ve worked extensively with individuals, couples, and families.
At TFCC, my aim is to nurture top-notch mental health practitioners and champion mental wellness in our community. Outside of work, you'll find me lost in fantasy novels, having a blast with my twin sons, or exploring new corners of the globe!
Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern
Hi there! I'm Oceanna Dykes, a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Program at Western Kentucky University. I decided to shift my academic path after
I received my bachelor's degree in music education from Kentucky State University
in 2021 to serve my community in another way. My passion lies in creating a therapeutic
space that truly resonates with each client. I blend interventions influenced by a
multicultural perspective, alongside Existential and Person-Centered therapies, always
viewing my clients through a holistic lens to deeply understand their unique experiences.
In my free time, you'll often find me singing like no one's listening, cherishing
moments with my sisters, embracing joyful movement, and empowering youth as a volunteer
mentor with the MYSIS literacy program.
Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern
Hi! My name is Cheyla Ferguson, and I am a graduate student in the Clinical Mental
Health Counseling Program at Western Kentucky University. I received my bachelor's
degree in Psychological Science with a minor in Political Science in May of 2024.
I am an intern here at the Talley, as well as a graduate research assistant and teaching
assistant in the Counseling and Student Affairs Department. I like to use a blend
of therapeutic interventions that will best support my client and their needs. These
interventions are influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy, and Person-Centered Therapy. I chose this center because cost often creates
a barrier to treatment, and the Talley allows my colleagues and I to support the community
completely free of charge!
