DATE: February 9, 2012

SUBJECT: Admission to Teacher Education

Dear Prospective Teacher Education Student:

As you may already be aware, the Educational Professional Standards Board (EPSB) has changed some of the teacher admission requirements effective September 1, 2012. These changes will affect all students who do not have their teacher admissions file completed prior to September 1, 2012.

The first change is the GPA requirement for your teacher admissions file. The minimum overall GPA required in order to be admitted to the Education Program has changed from the current 2.5 overall GPA to a 2.75 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale. Please remember that your overall GPA is not figured until the rest of your teacher admission file is complete.

The testing requirement has also changed. Please see below for the new testing requirements that will take effect September 1, 2012.

The GAP score will no longer be accepted

Please carefully examine the changes described on the previous page. Again, if your teacher admissions file will be completed prior to September 1, 2012, you will be subject to the previous teacher admissions requirements. However, if any part of your teacher admissions file has not been completed by September 1, 2012, you will be subject to the new GPA and testing requirements.

A copy of this letter is being sent to your advisor to insure they discuss these changes with you.   A copy is also being placed in your teacher admissions file to indicate that you have been informed about these significant changes.

If you have any questions or concerns about these changes, please contact your advisor immediately to discuss exactly how these changes may apply to you.

Best wishes to each of you as you continue toward your goal of becoming a professional educator.
