Tutoring and Academic Assistance Locations:
The Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) is a student success center specifically for the College of Health and Human Services. The mission of ACE is to provide resources to students in the College of Health and Human Services that will help them attain their educational, career, and life goals. This mission is fulfilled through improved academic advising, technology assistance, and various developmental programming.
Western Kentucky University provides Student Technology Centers (open computer labs for all students) at convenient locations across the university. In addition to six locations on the main campus, there is also one Student Technology Center (STC) at each regional campus location, and another at the South Campus. STC labs are equipped with the latest hardware, software, scanners, and laser printing.
The Chemistry Lab is located in Thompson Complex Central Wing (TCCW) Room 125B. Please contact the Chemistry Lab for additional information at (270) 745-3457.
The Computer Science Lab is located in Thompson Complex Central Wing (TCCW) Room 125A. Please contact lab employees at email@example.com.
The Learning Assistance Center (LAC) is located on South Campus in Room 234. The Learning Assistance Center includes a reference library and provides KET Telecourse videos. Computers with internet, word processing, and tutorial software for Spanish, RN Kat testing, and Math are available for students. Tutors are available for many General Education courses. The Math Lab is located in College High Hall (COHH) Room 2124. The lab is available for students who need tutoring or need a quiet place to do math homework. Appointments are not necessary; students may walk in. Students in all levels of math can find help in the Math Lab. Contact the Math Lab at (270) 745-6178.
The Math Testing Center is located in College High Hall (COHH) Room 2126. This Center is available for students to schedule their tests for Math or Biology courses. Call (270) 745-2141 for information on how to set up your test.
The Modern Languages Media Center is located in the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center (FAC) Room 252. It offers free tutoring in French, German, and Spanish. If no one is available in FAC Room 252, please see Room 251 for assistance. For more information please contact (270) 745-2401.
The Physics Help Center is located in Thompson Complex Central Wing (TCCW) Room 246. It is staffed by faculty and undergraduate Physics majors. Students can walk in for tutoring. Please contact the Department of Physics and Astronomy at (270) 745-4357.
The Resource Room serves the Glasgow Campus as the primary open computing environment. Many of the Resource Room staff members are qualified to tutor in a variety of general education courses, and all are available to assist students in navigating the internet, specifically TopNet and Blackboard. Student Accessibility Resource Center, formerly Student Disability Services, coordinates services and accommodations for students with documented disabilities. For more information contact (270) 745-5004 or stop by DSU 1074.
Student Support Services (SSS) is located in Jones Jaggers Hall (JJH) Room 132. This program provides comprehensive continuing academic assistance for 225 undergraduate students with academic potential. Specifically, a student must meet certain financial guidelines and/or be from a family where neither parent holds a bachelor’s degree or is a student with a documented disability. All services are free of charge to qualifying students. Students seeking assistance who have yet to achieve junior standing can determine their eligibility and apply for services at the program offices or call (270) 745-4308.
The Technology Resource Center (TRC) is a hands-on digital media facility for students and faculty located in Mass Media and Technology Hall (MMTH) Room 257. Specialized equipment and software are available, along with friendly, knowledgeable technical support and consultation. The goal of the TRC is to provide WKU students, staff, and faculty with resources to create outstanding digital multimedia projects to support teaching, learning, and academic class work.
The Writing Center has two locations on campus. The main location is in Cherry Hall (CH) Room 123. There is also a location in the Helm Library Reference Room. The Writing Center can help with all writing processes and have resources for instructions on all citation styles. Students can call for an appointment, walk-in, or schedule appointments online.
