The campus of Western Kentucky University provides students with many resources to assist in their academic pursuits. Located within the Academic Advising & Retention Center in Downing University Center, WKU students will find The Learning Center.
TLC offers an ideal environment to foster student success. Students can take advantage of a vast array of services to supplement course specific content distributed within the classroom. Students may utilize our large, quiet study space and our 32 machine computer lab to complete assignments.
TLC also provides face to face tutoring in over 200 WKU courses by our certified tutors. TLC offers online tutoring as well! In addition to specific courses, we offer tutoring in many academic skill areas including time management, note taking strategies, and reading comprehension.
Students entering The Learning Center are also exposed to a collection of over 30 photographs, made all over the world by WKU Photojournalism faculty, staff, and students. This display is entitled Breath: A Global Portrait. In 2008, this exhibit was expanded to include Breathe: Woven Voices, which is comprised of weavings produced by two WKU, art students. Both installations were collected and curated by the Academic Advising & Retention Center.
TLC serves as a study hall tracking facility for many organizations across the campus. TLC has two satellite locations; one in Keen Hall and one in Pearce Ford Tower. These centers allow students to study in the convenience of their residence hall while receiving the same benefits of studying at TLC’s main location.
The Learning Center serves the WKU campus six days a week and strives for all students to reach academic success.
