Program Schedule Example

1st Summer

  July 12th – July 23rd – HMD Graduate classes, 40 hours of instruction/week

  July 26th & July 27th - Orientation

  July 28th - Supervised practice begins – 24 – 30 hours/week

  August 23rd – Fall semester begins; MBA classwork begins, supervised practice experience at 24 hours/week continues.

  December 23rd – January 1st – Break

  January 2nd – Supervised practice experience resumes

  January 18th – Spring Semester Graduate course work resumes

  May 13th – Spring semester ends

2nd Summer

  May 15th  Graduate classes resume.  Supervised practice experience continues.

   July 22nd – Supervised Practice experience completed.

  July 26th – 30th – Interns on campus.  Final evaluations

August 12th – Summer semester ends.  Degrees conferred.

The Western Kentucky University Dietetic Internship is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).

NOTE: Effective January 1, 2024, the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) will require a minimum of a master’s degree to be eligible to take the credentialing exam to become a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN). In addition, CDR requires that individuals complete coursework and supervised practice in programs accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). In most states, an RDN must also obtain licensure to practice. For information on dietetic program accreditation, refer to: http://www.eatrightPRO.org/ACEND
