Have you ever wondered what some of the benefits are to studying mathematics at WKU? Are you unsure of what to do after graduation? A great resource for answers to these questions are the people who have been in your shoes before! In the Pi Mu Epsilon Math Alumni Speaker Series (PME MASS), WKU Mathematics alumni speak about their career paths and how studying mathematics at WKU has been beneficial to them. Each event ends with a Q&A session.
We are pleased to announce our first speaker for the semester, DJ Price (BA ’20, MS ’21), a Senior Software Engineer I at Trunk Tools. DJ will be speaking to us on Tuesday, October 1, at 4:00 PM in COHH 3119.
About our Speaker: DJ graduated from WKU in 2020 with a BA in Mathematics and then again in 2021 with a MS in Mathematics. His work today is software engineering, primarily focused on designing and building fullstack applications in various programming languages (including Typescript and Python). DJ was hired onto his current job at Trunk Tools as the first full-time engineering hire. He started by building the financial backend of a web application to enable workers in the construction industry to get paid extra incentives on the jobsite. His company then took a slight pivot, and they now integrate with many AI vendors and construction-specific vendors to deliver an LLM enabled "brain behind construction" while still supporting their incentives product. In his free time, DJ likes to help out with various parts of the music ministry at his church, and he likes to (try to) build video games.
