Kinya Embry

Kinya Embry

Kinya is a two-time WKU CSD graduate. She has had amazing experiences in the field including working in what she describes as her dream job with young clients who are deaf and have hearing impairments.  In addition to working full time, Kinya is enrolled as a PhD student at the University of Kentucky.  Kinya reflects on countless experiences in the WKU CSD that have shaped her professional and personal life.  "While in the (CSD-SLP) program, I met lifelong friends, cultivated professional relationships with clinical supervisors and professors, and was given the opportunity to study abroad and go out of the country for the very first time to study speech pathology internationally!"

Like many, Kinya's accomplishments as a rising SLP did not come without challenges.  In her first year of graduate school, Kinya became pregnant with her wonderful son, Noah.  With what she describes as immense support from faculty, staff, externship coordinators, and clinic supervisors, Kinya remained focused and motivated to walk with her cohort in May and receive her Masters in Speech-Language Pathology in August 2018.
