Ladies at the Bar

Learn how to navigate the weight room with confidence. In this free clinic for women, you will not only learn how to lift and perform exercises but also how to plan your own workouts.

Includes:

  • Small group instruction from a certified personal trainer
  • Demonstrations and explanation of important exercises

Time: Thursday, Nov. 16, 9am-10am

Group Functional Training

Join this group and have 3 scheduled workouts a week, dedicated to improving all of the components of health fitness. Improve your total body fitness through exercises that use all of your muscles while performing movements essential to everyday life. Improve your quality of life, athletic performance, or just to blow off stress in a team environment.

Times: 2 groups MWF 6:00am or 12:15pm

Includes:

  • Pre-Assessment of health & physical condition
  • Leadership and workouts from a certified fitness professional
  • Nutrition coaching from a Registered Dietitian
  • Group accountability

ACE Group Fitness Instructor Workshop

This workshop is an 8-week program which meets 2 hours a week and is designed to prepare you to for the ACE Group Fitness Instructor certification exam. If you enjoy exercise and teaching others how to become fit, you could start being paid for it! Click the banner for more information.

Wing Chun Self-Defense

This martial art style uses your body position, skill and technique in order to fight off potentially larger and stronger opponents. This 8 week class meets on Thursday's from 5:30pm to 7pm and gives you physical training, skill training, and practice to improve your health and personal safety.

Includes:

  • Small group training from an experienced instructor
  • New techniques weekly
  • Practice time to master new skills

ACE Personal Trainer Exam Prep Workshop

This workshop is an 8-week program which meets 1-2 hours a week and is designed to prepare you to for the ACE personal trainer certification exam. If you enjoy exercise and teaching others how to become fit, you could start being paid for it! Click the banner for more information.

Big Red Bench Off

Compete against others to push the highest relative bench press on campus. the max weight competitors lift will be divided by their body weight to determine the percent of body weight lifted for a single rep. The male and female winners will receive plaque and have their names on the perpetual plaque in the fitness center. All participants will be entered into a raffle so even if you don't win, it's still worth competing.

Poker Walk

The Poker Walk for wellness this Halloween! This event is a great way for you to get out of the office or class for the day and explore the campus. Participants will begin at South Lawn where you will be given your first of 5 cards. After finishing your loop around campus and gathering the remaining 4 cards, the participant with the best hand will win an awesome prize from our WKU Store!

Olympic Weightlifting Workshop

This workshop will inform you on the readiness, training, technique, and progression of Olympic Weightlifting to improve total body power. This is a great first step toward becoming proficient in the Clean & Jerk as well as the Snatch. No prior experience is necessary for this workshop
