Getting Started

Employees are issued one or more technology accounts to access WKU IT systems and services. NetID accounts are automatically generated for employees when they become “active” in the Banner HR system. To look up your NetID and set a password, go to Use your NetID and password to access a wide range of IT services including email/calendar, myWKU, TopNet, Blackboard, WKU InfoView reporting, network file storage, wireless, computer labs, and more.

IT Policies and Security

All employees are responsible for keeping their accounts secure and for regularly reviewing the current IT policies at These policies contain important information about sensitive data handling, information security, accounts and access, and many of the programs mentioned in this brochure. An IT security bulletin is released quarterly to provide additional information about these topics and to remind all employees to review these policies.

myWKU (Portal)

myWKU provides “one stop” single sign-on access to many applications such as TopNet, Banner, WKU InfoView, Blackboard, and more without having to login to each one individually. Gain instant access to myWKU content such as links, directory search, bookmarks, and other common resources and tools. Login to myWKU at

Email and Calendar

Your email/calendar account is automatically generated with your NetID account when you become an active employee. You are responsible for checking and maintaining your WKU email/calendar account as these are heavily utilized for University business communications and scheduling. TopNet is a web-based, secure gateway for accessing administrative and academic information related to registration, teaching, advising, finance, personal employee records and more. Access to restricted TopNet information is dependent upon your job responsibilities and requires completed training. WKU InfoView

WKU InfoView is a web-based reporting tool available to faculty and staff. Users have the ability to schedule, view, print and export Crystal Reports developed by Enterprise Applications and Programming. WKU File Shares

When on campus, login to your University-issued computer to access network file storage, mapped as P: S: or U: drives. The P: drive is for individual, University-related storage and cannot be shared. The S: and U: drives are shared storage to which you will have various levels of access depending on your job responsibilities.
