A chemical engineer by training and certified graphology instructor, Eman AlYousuf is an Emirati writer who has published three collections of short stories in Arabic: “Many Faces of a Man”, “A Bird in a Fish Tank”, and “Eggs, Sunny Side Up.” Her Arabic-language novels include The Window that Saw and The Sun’s Guardian, which won first prize in the 2016 Emirates Literary Competition. Her most recent novel, The Resurrection of Others, was published in 2019. She also published a book of interviews with Emirati writers and regularly writes columns for popular publications. AlYousuf wrote the first feminist Emirati film, “Ghafa,” which was screenedat the 2017 Dubai Film Festival. Notably, she was the first Emirati to be chosen for the prestigious fall residency program at the Iowa Writers’ Workshop at the University of Iowa.
