Teacher Education Programs

WKU offers certified teachers a number of online program options to meet their professional development needs, including: Master of Arts in Education, RANK I, Education Specialist, and Endorsements.

The M.A.E. in Teacher Leadership program was created in collaboration with P-12 classroom teachers, university faculty, and school administrators to prepare teachers to be leaders in their classrooms. The program allows teachers to earn an endorsement as part of their degree, and has been approved by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB).

Post-Graduate Degrees

Online post-graduate degrees include certificate programs, specialist degrees, and doctorate programs. At the post-graduate level, students work closely with faculty members on research specific to their field of study, and professional goals. All courses are taught by WKU faculty.

Master of Arts in Teaching

The M.A.T. program was created to allow mid-career professionals the opportunity to earn initial teacher certification at the graduate level. Currently, the only MAT track available completely online is Special Education in Learning and Behavior Disorders. The program has been approved by the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB).
