Public Health

Bachelor of Science in Public Health offers two concentrations :

Public health work is done in a wide variety of settings in the public and private sectors. The mission of the Department of Public Health is to provide quality learning experiences and professional preparation for students, and to promote excellence in learning, teaching, scholarship and community service. Environmental health professionals are best known for their efforts to ensure safe food, water, air quality and sanitary conditions.

The different categories are :

Health Care Administration

The Department of Public Health offers an AUPHA Certified Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration (major with no minor requirements). This program prepares the student for management and administrative positions in various types of health care facilities, organizations, and agencies such as hospitals, special care units, nursing facilities, home health, group medical practices, health maintenance organizations, assisted living, public health agencies, outpatient surgery centers and clinics.

In addition to the major, Health Care Administration has 2 minor programs and 1 certificate program:

Environmental Health Science

The mission of the Environmental Health Science (EHS) Program at Western Kentucky University is to educate students in preparation for an exciting career in the environmental health science.
