New Requirements from EPSB- Criminal Background Checks for Initial Certification

Starting January 1, 2015, students will be required to provide a state and federal background check to EPSB before they are eligible for an initial certification.  If you are seeking initial certification through EPSB, please request a copy of your state and federal background check from the district where you completed your student teaching. 

 

The background check must be less than a year old at the time of certification recommendation.  It will be your responsibility to complete a new background check and send it to EPSB if you are not eligible for recommendation within a year of having your background check completed.  It is our suggestion to complete your Praxis exams ASAP to avoid a delay in your certification and any additional fees required for a new background check.
