Policies and Personnel


As Vice Provost for Policies and Personnel, Dr. Miller oversees compliance with faculty personnel policies and procedures, and has responsibilities and oversight of the following:

  • Faculty personnel and academic policy issues;
  • Oversight of compliance with affirmative action and other university policies in advertising, screening, and hiring new faculty;
  • Verification and maintenance of official university files on credentials of all full and part time faculty;
  • Review and approval of affirmative action and personnel action forms;
  • Reviewing and approving credentials and payrolls for all part-time faculty;
  • Reviewing and approving extra compensation for regular full-time faculty;
  • Providing liaison and staff support for faculty continuance, promotion, and tenure, and faculty grievance committees, and appeals processes;
  • Maintaining and updating faculty tenure and promotion files;
  • Oversight of the Office of Student Publications;
  • Serving as the WKU Liaison with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
  • Serving as ex-officio liaison with the Faculty Welfare and Professional Responsibilities Committee of the University Senate;
  • Liaison with the Faculty Handbook Committee and maintaining the latest edition of the Faculty Handbook;
  • Attending meetings of the Council of Academic Deans;Advising the Provost on all matters relating to academic policy and practice;
  • Chairing the University Distinguished Professor Selection Committee;
  • Chairing the University Student Complaint Committee;
  • Advising the Provost on faculty tenure, promotion, and sabbatical applications and recommendations.
