Selection

Selection criteria will be determined by a committee composed of higher education faculty members/administrators, P-12 teachers and administrators, representatives from various state agencies and professional organizations, and/or prior Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame inductees. Consideration shall be given to ensure a diverse representation on the selection committee, including gender, race, ethnicity, and geography.

The committee will select three (3) and a maximum of six (6) individuals to be inducted into the Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame. All members of the class must receive a majority vote of those present and voting on the selection committee. Additionally, the committee will select and rank two (2) alternates to be considered in the event that a recipient is unable to accept the honor.

An honoree will not be inducted into the Kentucky Teacher Hall of Fame unless he or she attends the induction ceremony (unless seriously ill or deceased) to be held in a location and on a date to be determined. Those not selected will remain in consideration for induction for three years, including their initial nomination year, after which they are not eligible to reapply.
