Jennifer Adam is an assistant professor of music at Western Kentucky where she directs the women’s choir, teaches music education and music theory. Prior to her appointment at Western, she taught in elementary, middle, and high schools in Pennsylvania, where she developed curriculum for and taught intermediate and AP theory classes, electronic and general music, and directed both choirs and orchestras. She served as the Director of the Chorale in the Berks Classical Children’s Chorus (Reading, PA) for six years, and concurrently as the Artistic Director in her last four years with the organization. As a choral musician, she has served as a section leader and soloist with the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia and the Bucks County Choral Society (Doylestown, PA), as well as a member of Colla Voce, a professional chamber choir in Columbia, SC, and a member of The Lyric Consort (Scranton, PA), an eight-voice a cappella chamber choir, for thirteen years. Dr. Adam served as the Repertoire and Standards Chair for Women’s Choirs for the Pennsylvania chapter of the American Choral Directors Association from 2006-2009.
Dr. Adam received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education (vocal) and Violin Performance from Wilkes University (Wilkes-Barre, PA), a masters degree in Choral Conducting and Vocal Performance from Temple University (Philadelphia, PA) and her doctorate in Conducting from the University of South Carolina (Columbia, SC).
